Totally have to disagree with RAIN. CFOs at top
companies have their CPAs. I've never worked for a CFO that didn't have
his CPA.

I was bored and I picked just 3 current CFOs (totally random)
Chris Liddell CFO Microsoft (Engineer)

Big Pete CFO Apple (Agricultural Business)

Lewis Booth CFO Ford - He is a chartered accountant

So one out of three. Some CFOs are CPAs and some are not. Again: my
point is... CPA is not necessary to become a CFO and it's not going to
help you a lot to get there (you need so many other skills on top of good
understanding of accounting to become a CFO).

I am in the process of pursuing my undergrad degree.  I have an associates in accounting.  I want to take the CPA exam, but now am alittle confused if I want to take the CPA or CMA.  Can someone give me advice whether to be a CPA or CMA?

CPA is generally considered the gold standard in the USA. It's widely known and respected. CMA is not that popular. However, if you are planning on working in the private area, you might be better off with a CMA license. CMA is also easier to get. Why don't go for both of them?

RAIN:  I probably should go for both since CMA you only need a undergrad degree and CPA I need 150 credits to sit for the test.  Wow you did really go on the CPA Exam!  How was it?

It was fun (Auditing aside). Since I work in corporate finance/ accounting, I
am thinking of going for the CMA now.
