Your region must have a really big demand for accounting graduates compared to mine then.  Big 4 at my school requires a 3.2 to apply and other big national firms require a 3.0.

That may certainly be the case. That's why I said I thought it really depended on the local office, but apparently that makes me a 22 y/o girl.

There is a stereotype that is commonly held that a lot of the firms prefer pretty girls for their jobs.  I know one firm in particular that certainly seems to.  80% of the associates, senior associates, and managers were pretty girls at recruiting events ;).  But I think that is also a local office thing though.

This is true, but its not just a local thing, its a national thing.

Firms usually NEVER consider candidates with a GPA below a 3.3, so I do find it strange that people are getting considered with a GPA below a 3.0.  This leads me to believe accounting is a very superficial industry.

When I applied to Big 4 internships, I had a 3.68 cumulative GPA.  I got interviews for all firms except EY.
