Congrats on your new job! Did you get recruited through school?

Thanks!

Yup, I went through campus recruiting for a summer internship, which resulted in a full-time offer.

I would say yes.  I am 33...didn't even get invited to a campus interview with Ernst and Young.  My resume was fine...3.36 GPA in grad school doing tax.  And the E&Y GPA requirement was 3.0.   They also said in the notes "law degree or other advanced degree strongly preferred."  I know for sure that I am the only applicant at my school with a law degree.   But no interview...yet all the young girls in the class got interviews and invited to the pre interview dinner....and some of these people are total dorks.

Always try to hide your age when it is a problem. You show/hide depending on the position you are applying. Once hired no one bothers. Then it depends on your capability to survive.

Why do they care about age?  Is it some complex that a 23 year old HR manager has with hiring someone older than them?  They know most young students are only going to work there 2 yrs and quite.

It may not be ONLY the HR manager who decides. It also depends upon the department manager. If your immediate boss/supervisor is younger than you or less qualified , you are a threat to him.

Even personality counts for example if you are 33 but you look only 27, it is a plus point.

Some candidates they look 33 but they are only 24 and they do not get hired even for entry positions.

Sometimes HR tries to count the number of years of experience and does guess work. Best thing is hide your age when not required.Be on the safe side.

This is common everywhere whether it is a CPA firm or an industry.
