And why is BAP such a big deal.  In any other major those types of groups are seen as a waste of time and/or cheesy.

You should question the dept. head regarding the girl who got in with only a 3.0 gpa.  It seems completely unreasonable for them to let her in but not you.

Department heads play the big time favorites as far as BAP here too.  I know a guy who sucked up to the professor in charge of BAP and he liked this guy so much he scaled a B- in intermediate 2 all the way to a solid "A-" so he met the GPA requirements.  I finished the class with a 79.2, and got a C+.   Really fair, right?  I HATE that professors have the right to apply a curve to some students and not others.  If professors change grades it should be in respect to ALL students, not just the chosen ones.

How do you know he scaled the grade for that guy? Is it possible that the guy did some extra credit work?

Being active in a student club is a huge plus to the big4 recruiters. I didn't know that before and made a huge mistake over it.

Once you join Big 4 you are supposed to bring few clients and retain them. Just audit, tax and other work does not suffice.

Networking and show off is very important for the big 4 . Your GPA does not count here.

They see how much revenue you can bring vs hard work.

I had the professor once before and he always made a huge deal on the first day of class that there would never be any extra credit, under no circumstances, so do not ask.  So even if he did do extra credit, the teacher did an injustice by not offering to anyone else.

I know the guy, he was somewhat a friend, he basically admitted the teacher "helped him" get a better grade.  Fortunately, it is NOT that way in every class at my school, in fact, it is really just that one professor and students know him for his favorite playing.  He retired this semester however.
