Excellent. That's good for you, but the truth is I can't seem to get an interview with even the medium size firm. Can you refer me to someone?

I'm beginning to wonder about all the people that make posts that  indicate that you HAVE to work for a Big 4 - your life depends on it.

A very good argument is that the name will get you further in your career, and paying your dues basically means that you are set.  I find your post refreshing (edit: responding to minicre), and pose this question:

Is the correlation between success and working for a Big 4 not that because you work for a Big 4 you will have more chances at success, but because the Big 4 hires a certain 'type' of person, those people in general are more likely to have more chances at success?  I think the latter.  Generally speaking the Big 4 tend to hire the most talented individuals with a natural knack for networking.  If that is you then it should not matter where you decide to launch your career - you will have more chances at success because you are you.

Minicre,

What part of the country are you in, and is your firm a national or a regional?

I'm asking because I will be floating resumes in a few months myself.  The responsibility level you describe is a close fit to the kind of position I have visualized.
