When I had a phone interview w/ a Fortune 500 company, it was basically to get a feel for what your personality is like, and a lot of situational questions were asked. They'll give you scenarios and ask how you've handled it before. This can be backed up with experience from prior work, school, and/or anything else (family management, volunteering, etc.).
