I got turned down by Deloitte. Too many people and too few jobs. I have a very high GPA (3.87)and I am almost done and will receive a Master's degree in March but I am a little older than the folks that get out of school and during the interview that came up as one of their concerns. Good luck to all of you. I will focus on passing all the sections of the exam and since the fall recruiting season is over, I will start looking for a job in mid-January, once I sit for the REG section, my last section.

How old are you? And why was your age one of their concerns? It sounds like the older you are, the less likely you are getting a job in public accounting.

That is odd. How did your age come up in the interview? It is illegal to ask about the age and you should not volunteer this info either. People stay with Big 4 firms for 2-3 years on average so age should not be the issue unless you have a problem with much younger folks managing you. If they did ask you about your age, I would report them wherever such things are reported

I am in mid 30s and they looked at my transcripts and figured out my age. the issue came up during the interview because they asked me if I had a problem being managed by people younger than me.

Well, do you have an issue with being manage by younger people? If not, did you make it clear in the interview?
