So I had my pre-office visit social and office visit, Wed and Thurs in the Miami office.  There were only 10 interviewees.  The social was a sit down dinner in groups of 5.  Each table had two interviewees and three Deloitte staff (2 staff and 1 senior).  They intentionally put you at a table with people who had a common bond.  All the people at my table went to the same university.  I knew one the other interviewee from previous office visits.  I knew one staff from one of my classes and the other staff from Beta Alpha Psi (Accg. Fraternity) and the Senior was actually from where I'm from.  So I didn't necessarily learn anything new about them.  But we did have some time to chat some of the other staff before the we sat down to dinner.

The office visit was fairly short.  We sat in the conference room with the recruiter for 1 hr.   By the way the vacation time is RIDICULOUS!  We all almost fell over!  And they are offering 51k compared to EY's 49k and the other Big 4 are offering slightly less.  We then broke apart for each of our 3 interviews. VERY conversational and easy going.  I had a partner, a manager and the Managing Partner for Florida.  The managing partner talked ALOT. We only had 30 mins and he spent 11 mins telling me about himself then asked if I had any questions.  I asked what had kept him with Deloitte for 23 yrs and that was another 10 min response.  He didn't ask any behavioral questions.  The first partner asked 2 but we kept going off on tangents.  The second one just didnt ask any so I worked them into the conversation.

After the 3 interviews, it was all over.  We didn't go to lunch or anything (kind of disappointing:().  We were done by 12.  On the upside, they knew they were the last Big 4 to do office visits and promised decisions in 1 week.  I got a call at 6pm from the recruiter indicating that they were extending an offer.  I practically accepted over the phone.  None of the other people in my classes have heard back yet but it would be cool if we could work together.

So that's my Deloitte experience.

Yes, yes, yes...it's true.  5 weeks plus personal obligation days plus 11 holidays.

Deloitte does offer a lot of vacation time plus an extra days of paid holidays off!

I wonder how much of it you actually get to use.  What's important is how long can you keep on accumulating it?

In California where I'm from, vacation time never expires, however most firms have a policy that after 2 years, they stop accumulating.

If you do end up leaving, you get compensated for your vacation time too!

Do you know if there is an age limit for BIG 4 when hiring entry level CPAs? I
am looking for an entry level position right now and was wondering if I have
a chance to get a job in those firms.
Thank you.
