I have to admit that I have kicked up my computer game addition a couple of notches since I finished.  I requested that from family as the congrats gift they were going to send - just send me computer games.  I played them non stop for a week.

And reading just novels/junk.  Till my eyes fall out.

And I did get the first 10 lbs of 'study insulation' off.  Just 20 more to go.

Now, I don't mean to say in this comment that I miss
taking the exam, studying for the exam, talking about the
exam, thinking about the exam WHATSOEVER! But...

Now that I'm finished, I've found that the CPA exam isn't
leaving me very easily. It's more like my brain is now so
hard-wired toward thinking about it that I find myself
drawn to anything CPA-related that I can find. I've spent
more time reading through the CPAnet message board,
obsessed over the details of how my CPA licensure process
goes in MN, even tried to find out how people's REG tests
are going in this new testing window.

Yet, I'm also starting to enjoy the things I abandoned
four years ago in the name of using my free time to study
-- namely, reading books and listening to music. In the
time since I found that I passed the exam (now two weeks
ago), I finished a book that I was stalled on page 550 of
(Stephen King's "Under the Dome"), have listened to
multiple new albums that came out in 2010 (and 2009,
which I've needed to catch up on), and in general just
been the happy, fun guy my friends doubtless missed while
I was studying.

But, I think that part of me that spent so much time and
energy is now a permanent part of my life. And that's
kind of cool. I'm done with the exam, and I'm different
than I was before I started the exam, and definitely
different for the better.

That's so true. I finished over a year ago, and now I'm looking at the MBA program, something I said I would NEVER do. I should really get therapy for this...*GRIN*

OK, now that it's been a few months since I passed, my
opinion has changed, at least somewhat:

I definitely, DEFINITELY do not miss studying for or
taking any part of the CPA exam. In fact, when I think
about even opening a book, or spending an evening
studying, it makes me a little physically ill.

Having said that, I've taken my study mindset and now
applied it to training for a full marathon! I was in
cross country in high school but haven't done much
competitive running since then, just a handful of 5Ks and
what not. It is MUCH more enjoyable using the CPA study
mindset to train for a marathon, and a month into my
training, I've reaped the physical and mental benefits
quite a bit -- I feel great, rely much less on caffeine
than I have, and I have fun running.

So, I'm really glad that I am done with the CPA exam and
am now a CPA so I can have time to do those things. But
if the exam did anything for me, it's pretty much changed
the way I take on any task in general, something that
will be extremely helpful in any walk of life.
