Let me warn you, this is the cold hard truth. I'm not belittling anyone, nor am I going to sit here and give you a fake sense of security and hope. That would just waste your time, attacking something that is not REALISTIC. Possible but not realistic.Your routeMS + MBA dual degree, just like I've seen retards do it at Northeastern. Low ranking program with no work experience requirement. It sounds good to ignorant people that have no idea how bad it is.My route:Finished CPA, taking CFA in DecemberMSA at a Top 5 school, coming in with Big 4 exp + 1 year of corporate accounting experience at a Top firm.Land Big 4 Advisory job with top MSA, big 4 placement, with CPA + CFA. Gain experienceGo to Top 5 MBA program, and almost do whatever the hell I want. There is a huge difference buddy. It's not ME that is judging you. It's the employers that are judging you. So stop being in denial. I can already tell you are in denial from the way you reacted. The fact that I continue to study 2-3 hours a day and 7 hours on weekends is because I am realistic. I don't deny the fact that I am not qualified for something. I don't sit around pretending I can get into Top 5 MBA right now, or Ibanking/consulting. If someone insulted my credentials for it, I would accept it because I know its the truth. Now man up and continue to work harder. That is my own way to "help you out".
Dawgie,
You sure have a weird/rude way of trying to help people out. If you have any intention of helping people, be courteous and give them suggestions instead of criticizing them. You are not an employer so do not judge other people based on insufficient information you have about them. Being sarcastic and conceited will get you nowhere!!! BTW, I do not need your help or your opinions.

Insufficient information, tsk tsk keep denying and doubting a successful young man that has consistently landed offers and offers since he was 18. I can guarantee it'll help you sleep better at night, but it won't help you become successful.

I can say confidently that it does not require a candidate to graduate from an Ivy, top tier, or even UC school to get into a Big 4. If your school has an accounting program, which offer classes related to the CPA requirement, you have a strong chance.
This year, 1000+ auditors (excluding tax/advisory) are starting at a big 4 company. About 85% come from "no name" local/state public schools (with an accounting program). These are the cream of the crop kids from each school, of course!
GPA, work experience, and mainly attitude/personality (and how personable you are) is what gets you in.
I personally know a girl who had a 4.0 from a top school B-School. She did not get in. A guy was making 3.4 from a "no-name" school...was a guy you can relate with and he got in.
Going off tangent...there's a myth that big 4s hire only attractive folks, esp. for audit. That's not the case. There's as much attractive folks in your office as there are in your average classroom. Attractive people naturally stand out, so our focus is centered on them more. There are gaunt folks, round folks, obese folks, average-background-type-folks, and attractive folks. Everyone does look professional though.
So if you're a "minority", "fat/chubby/obese", and from a "no-name" school, BUT you have great work ethics, and show the ability to learn fast... by all means, apply. Over 60% of the above description fit my office, while 85% come from "no-name" schools. For purposes of privacy protection, don't ask me where I work :)
Schools are schools. Most accountants know you're paying for a name. Most accountants buy generic, because they know the games in business. Your performance and activities while you're in school is what pays. Now finance......... THAT'S another story! I won't even get into that.

Better rank and more prestigious = better chance. Can't be disputed unfortunately. No matter what outliers you use as examples doesn't change that fact. No point.

You are absolutely right. If there is a high ranking school in the area, Big 4 will prefer to hire most from that school < id="gwProxy" ="">< ="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" ="">
