dawgie

i think your comments are unwarranted on a forum like this. if you are successful - good for you but not everyone out there have the same level playing field.

I'm only speaking from experience.  I went to a ranked, but not top 10 ranked school.  I'm preaching on the MISTAKES that I have made in my career.  If people wouldn't be so sensitive and stop being in denial of the reality of the job market, then maybe they will find my posts a lot more valuable.

Honestly, it's not good sugar coating and giving people false hope.  You want to give them options that are realistic and give them the best chance to get what they want.

I GOT IT. I am a realist myself. I have some friends in college who thinks that the job market is waiting for them and they can pick and choose who they want to work for.

Not because one have passed the CPA exam they have the god given right to be employed with a big4.

Dawgie, I thought your comments and peoples reaction to them were hilarious.  I don't think you were out of line, although the Northeastern "retards" comment was a bit vulgar.  I was thinking the same thing when I saw the dual MS/MBA thing.  Schools that offer a dual MS/MBA programs probably aren't ranked.

Lately, this forum has become TOO soft and quick to offer sympathy to those looking for it.

runnercpa88, since you got 2 big 4 interviews, I wouldn't blame your credentials.  Remember, companies hire people that they think would be a good fit.  I say just keep applying and at your next interview,  try a different approach and shoot your mouth off with a Dawgie-like confidence in yourself.  Because, honestly, I agree with just about every assumption Dawgie made about you based upon your reaction.  I know a lot of people who badly wanted a big 4 offer, but end up shooting themselves in the foot for coming off as desperate.

A lot depends on where you live and what kind of culture you are used to. Where I live now, people treat each other with manners and respect and pompous, overbearing people do not get far in any profession. It's a different story on the eastern seaboard, which is why I left.
