I have the opportunity to do a short-term assignment. I'll be doing bookkeeping, financial stat. compilation, and some taxes. I'll be working as independent contractor. I"m need to come up with an hourly rate. Any idea how much to charge for bookkeeping and financial S. compilations? thanks!

It depends. My billing rate at my last job was $110/hour. I don't know about the managers, but I think the partner's was around $280/hour.

That being said they billed clients a wide-range of fees, and they could be as low as $150, or well into the $1000's.

thanks fla_examner! the rates are not that bad...I wouldn't mind to be an independent contractor and charge $110 an hour...all the earnings for myself : )....hmmm...It wouldn't be a bad idea to start my own practice instead of looking for a job. hmm...I don't have a cpa license yet....
