This is a hard one for sure. I've in the past spent a little too much time talking to co-workers, which is of course unproductive. So I was thinking of telling them that, and that I have since then recognized that it's negative on both my co-worker and I's productivity, so I try to confine chit-chatting as much as politely possible to personal time.

Is this too corny? I came up with this: I need to continue to improve my communications; I
believe with experience, I will become more confident in talking to clients
about accounting. (So I can be a better salesman or the rain man in the future)

You could also say that you're looking to join a public speaking group, such as Toastmasters International. Just be sure to look up a local chapter and see if you can make their meetings.

It could be risky if this position requires good communication skills. In an article I read it was recommended to say that you used to be a little disorganized in the past, but managed to improve yourself
