I applied for Revenue Agent position with IRS for Grade 7 and 9 and I received an email saying that “Based upon your online vacancy application responses, we are pleased to inform you that you tentatively meet eligibility requirements for the occupation and grade level indicated”. They say I qualified for grade 7 and they did not say that I qualify for grade 9.

My question is. I am a CPA with masters in accounting with accounting work experience and yet I did not qualify for grade 9. Is it normal? Should I just forget about Grade9 and just take grade 7. The salary for grade 7 is way lower than what I am making now.

They send a seperate response for every grade you qualified for. I got my response for grade 5 & 7 today, still waiting for 9 &11.

I know last round I qualified for grade 9 & 11 and I used the exact same answers for the most recent announcement, so I expect the same results!

I am curious as to what happen the last round after you received the email saying that you qualified for the grade you applied for? What is the next step and how long does it take. Did you make it to interview? Thanks

I applied after the selection period was over. I knew at the time I was past it for the current period but I thought my resume would be valid for the next hiring wave. That wasnt the case and I had to reapply.

By the way I just got the notice saying I qualified for grade 9, just waiting on 11 now.

MN Studier,

Good luck to you. I am waiting for a response for Grade 9. I know both of us are new to this IRS revenue agent application process. I wish we know somebody who has been through this application process so we can get more information and that will help us to deal with the anxiety and the uncertainties.

If I know that I will eventually get the job and perhaps the time it take and what is the process like then it will help me to relax. Off course we just have to wait and let the process take its course. Hopefully we will get these jobs at the end of this process. Let us keep praying for the best!
