I personally wouldn't try to negotiate. My internship offer was based on a 50k salary too. It seems like the Big 4 have a lot of the leverage in this economy. I don't care what anyone says, it's still tough out there for the accounting field.

Got my offer in the mail yesterday, 50k Boston for one of the Big 4. Is anyone going to try and negotiate? Common sense tells me not to take an offer for face value, but Big 4 tends to work differently I'm finding. Also, I feel like I have no leverage, considering I don't start until next fall.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have other open offers?  If not, there is no negotiation to be done.  You might go from 1 to none.  Not to mention, I'm sure you beat out other great candidates who would kill for the offer.  Congrats and sign...

I'm from the Boston area and that offer does seem low...However I haven't heard of anyone negotiating with the big 4 so I don't think I would.

Rainnyl -- pardon. I forgot about CPAnet thanks to a killer
last semester, and now I've been immersed in studying for
the CPA.

The 56k was for undergrad, E&Y NYC audit. The 57.4k was for
undergrad, PwC NYC Transaction Services -- I hear that's
been bumped up to 59k+ now. Looks like PwC went through a
round of salary bumps? Nice.
