Who wants to take this exam while working?  I just finished Nov 30 and in enrolled in a Master's program. I'm starting with Deloitte next Fall and it's a great burden lifted.  Not to menton it gave me a leg up on others in the interview process. Passing the CPA exam is the one thing the firms want their new hires to do.

i agree- passing the cpa exam....or at least sitting and showing that it is part of your plan... will set you apart from the other candidates.

CPA Exam was a topic on every single interview I've had...so the firms are definitely interested in this fact.

its beneficial to both the candidate as well as the firm that you become a cpa.  the firm can charge a higher rate for the hours you bill if you are a cpa.  you also get a bonus usually.

Was this for tax?  I'm in the 09 class and my salary is 51.2.  I would think salaries for '10 would stay the same, or even if they increase it wouldn't be by that much.  Jesus.

Also, for Fed007: you are living my dream right now!  My goal is to land a federal job next.  I'm in a Big4 right now and I hate it.  I don't think I want to stay until I get my CPA, I'll do work for the government and get my 2 years experience there.  But I don't know what my chances are of landing a government job is since I don't have much experience.  I only graduated with an undergrad this May. (Right now I do tax compliance, it's too narrow of a focus.  I'd like to someday do budgetary and financial analysis work.)

Anywho I don't want to take up space on the forum here to ramble, but if we can get in touch I would love to hear more about your work and any advice you can offer.

Not a problem, if you give me your email address, I can definitely offer you more insight. :-)
