I didn't get lucky, I had many interviews during my junior year.  Came down to 2 offers from Big 4.  I also had 2 internships prior to that.  Top 5 Macc (3.7+) is just my ticket to Big 4 Advisory and something fancy to help me during my Top 5 MBA applications in a few years.

I think that it's clear that the job market has changed since you were in college, Dawgie. You're assuming that it's exactly the same now as it was then. On the UTexas website, when they list their job placement statistics for their Macc program, they only show up to 2007...hmmm, I wonder why.....

It's definitely changed.  I think if you do a Top MSA next year, the economy will pick up a bit.  Regardless, I can see a guarenteed job after I graduate from any top 5 MSA program.  Not a doubt in my mind.

Dawgie,

I'm still not convinced of your need of a MAcc.  How many months/years of accounting did you have?  And, far more important than any superficial rank of your MSA program, what's your GMAT?

Dawgie, if your ultimate goal is a top MBA program, you don't need the MSA.  Just keep working for a few years and then make sure you get a great GMAT score (at least 700+, preferably 750+).  And save a lot of money in the mean time.  The top MBA programs are extremely expensive and full-time only, so you will have to take out huge loans if you don't have a lot of money saved up.
