hi all,
I am new to this forum. I just passed my CPA exam in Nov
09 from NJ state. I need to know whats the next step? Do
I get the certificate or I have to apply for license? I
mailed the state board to know about the next steps but
the CSR told me to wait for a letter.
I have to look for jobs and file for H1 in 2010. So can
anyone guide me what I can do? Do anyone know how to find
employers for H1?
I have done BCOM and 2 years LLB in India. I worked in
Export industry for 3 years in India. I worked in US with
CPA firm voluntarily as an assistant for 8 months just to
know the work before giving exams. Does that experience
counts? I used to do bank rec., filed individual tax,
partnership tax, data entry for corp tax. and did payroll
for partnerships and LLCs. Does this exp. help me to get
atleast new job? Please help.

Hello Riyaph
As per my understanding and what I read here on this forum, following will be the next steps :
1) NJ state board will send us a congratulatory letter and it should tell us the next steps which needs to be done. For example, experience requirement, Application forms etc. I read somewhere that it takes long time to get this letter.
2) You talk to your previous employers and get the required experience letters ( in a predescribed forms ) and submit it to board with the notarized application.
In the meantime , you can also check following discussion forum, you will find the link where all the forms are listed - application, experience letter form etc. For your immediate reference, here is the link to the forms.

Please also check following discussion regarding NJ license.

I also passed the exam in last window and now searching for certification info. If you find anything else, please let me know. Good luck.

For your question regarding H1B, I would say in this market many employers are reluctant to file H1B, but why don't you try to the employer where you were voluntary working ? I think they might be interested.

Thanks Jay for your response. I will see the links u gave. About H1B, my previous employers is in NJ and right now I am in MA near Boston area. So there is no way to file H1 with previous employer. Just one more help, to find job in my case, if I send my resume to CPA firms what should I write? I mean I passed the exam, waiting for license..? Please post the replies. Thanks in advance.
