I worked in a big financial service firm up until LEH went down. Aug-Oct was the most miserable time of my life.
Afterwards I found a job on Craigslist for a small CPA firm to prepare taxes during the busy season. The 6 man office was like a family and extremely personable.
Point is, big companies are not for everyone. You spend 1/3 of your working years somewhere, you may as well enjoy it. Call a headhunter or pay someone to cruise job boards for you.
