I'm a Commerce graduate from Univ of Mumbai. I also completed a 1 year program on Applied Finance from IIM, Calcutta. I intend to join the CPA program. However, quite confused on the following:

- Which state should i register - New Hampshire, Delaware or Virginia?

- Given my educational back ground should I first complete the federal taxation course and then apply for evaluation? If so, which course / institute  for fed. taxation? Which evaluato -Josef Silny or WES or FACS?

- I'm planning to register with the Yaeger CPA review - Home study.

Your reply on any or all of the above points would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'll share my experience about the evaluation agencies here ....
When I was first starting out with my masters here in the US, I got my transcripts evaluated by WES. They gave me 124 credits for my Undergrad (BBA) degree from India.  I guess you are aware that a US under grad degree is equivalant to 120 credits.
Then after my masters, when I was applying to the Florida state board of accountancy, I got my transcripts evaluated by Josef Silny. (Coz Florida board doesn't accept WES). Joesf Silny gave me 94 credits for the Same BBA degree....Go figure!! I was so pissed off...LOL
But I guess you  need to first decide on the state you are going with and then the evaluation agency coz not all states accept all agencies.

Hi Xalina,

I have done my Bcom from Mumbai University and WES gave me 126 credits for the same. I have applied with California board because they accept WES evaluation report. I have also finished 26 credits at a University in USA which included Intermediate, advance and govt acctg, Fed. taxation, tax research, acctg. issues, cost mngr acctg, Acctg Information System. So now I have 152 credits but I am afraid that California board my consider some of these courses as duplicate courses. Do you have any experience of this kind.
