An MS in accounting is definitely not a good option if you lack any business credits.  So your best bet is either an MBA with a concentration in accounting or a 2nd BS degree.  I guess it all depends on whehter you can find a suitale MBA program in your area and whether you have strong work experience and GMAT scores.  A 2nd BS degree does not require any work experience or GMAT scores, so it is much easier to get in.

I chose the 2nd BS because I don't have any work experience and would therefore have to go to a crummy busines school.  If I do my BS now and get some expeirnece, I can go to a much better school down the road.

Well, if you're sure you want to do accounting or tax, then the reputation of your business school doesn't matter, nor does the fact that you even have an advanced degree.  As I said before, CPA firms care first and foremost if you have relevant (i.e., public accounting) experience, and second, if you have a CPA license.  They don't care about your education otherwise.

Now, if you think you might want to do, say, investment banking, management consulting, or something on Wall Street, then there is value to an MBA from a top school.  But in the accounting world, the degree really doesn't matter.  Only the experience and CPA license do.

But to get the experience you need to go to a semi-decent school.
