Finding a proctor actually took me longer than I
expected. I found mine (a full-time administrator in the
special services department at a local college) through
the following website: http://www.ncta-testing.org/. I
think it's an organization for standardized testing, but
a few of the proctors there will also do tests for
distance learning.
LSU requires that the proctor be either a full-time
university employee (faculty or admin) or an ALA-
accredited librarian. I didn't give any "exam centers" a
call, because I wasn't sure if they'd meet the above
profile.
If you can't find someone on the website I provided, call
as many nearby libraries and colleges (most have some
kind of special services department) as possible. Most
will know what you're talking about when you ask for
"examination proctoring". I had to call 10 libraries and
5 colleges in my area before I found someone who would
work with my schedule (weekends only, since I work ~60-
hour weeks).
