I am sorry for not having clearly stated my education credentials. Actually I have:
1. A BCom degree from Mumbai University, India.
2. A ICWA(Inter) from India.( I have a photocopy of my Inter ICWA Group II marksheet with the scores. I dont have any proof of my Inter ICWA Group I.)
3. I then completed my Associates degree in Computer Information Systems with a Major in Programming from community college in US.

I am debating as to which evalation agency should I choose that will be able to recognize my Inter ICWA and give me credits for those advanced cost accounting courses.
WES asks for attested marksheets from the issuing authority in a sealed envelope. I dont have anyone in Mumbai who can go multiple times to the university and do that for me. Also without the marksheet for ICWA group I, I dont know how to get those attested by ICWAI in India. I tried to send them an email for the process of obtaining a duplicate marksheet and attestation, but have not received any response.
Does anyone have any idea of how to get marksheets attested from Mumbai University and from ICWA Institute in Mumbai, that will be very helpful. My father-in-law is in India and he is really old and I dont want to have him run-around.
Also, I would ideally like to apply for the GA state board but not sure if my credentials are enough. I have been told to apply to the CO state based on my BCom degree.

Any insight would  be helpful.

Caper, thanks a lot for the clarification... you are an expert! I guess it makes it a lot harder.

Sonia_ad, sorry I won't be able to help you on the specific question, but please note that some state boards only recognize certain evaluation agencies so maybe you should pick the state first.

Hi cmr-cpa1,

I couldn't find the information on the New York State Board of accountancy website regarding your case. All they said is this:

If you completed any post-secondary education outside of the United States:

  • Have a Certification of Professional Education (Form 2) completed by your school and submitted along with a transcript to the New York State Education Department

But I would think your case is quite unique. Maybe the next thing you can do is to call them up: 518-474-3817 x160

Here is the website on educational requirement for your information.

Cheers, Stephanie

Hi Sonia,

I got my evaluation done at WES, my 3 yr B.Com is equivalent to US Bachelor degree and Iam qualified to sit for any state. I would suggest you to go thru WES. If you have nobody to collect your sealed transcripts from India, use www.yourmaninindia.com, and they will collect your transcripts and send directly to WES with a fee. I used their service to get my transcripts. You don't need to worry about your ICWA, because I was told that incompleted courses are not taken into consideration for evaluation.

Hope this helps you
