Well, that is true, unless of course you buy a house in which case you must pay your nose-bleed high property taxes regardless of your income.

Nobody in their right mind buys a house until they are well established financially. People not following this is one of many causes of our current economic catastrophe.

Well, you might need a car to get around, depending on where you live. You never have to buy a home.
