Hello all, need urgent guidance on this. I received an email in my mailbox today apparently from the address <cpaexam@nasba.org> saying the following (in short):
From 9 Dec 09 Colorado state no longer accepts foreign CA (Chartered Accountant) credentials in fulfillment of exam elig requirements and hence I was no longer eligible to take the exam.
It further gives a link to the "Application Status" section of the CO NASBA website and also a link to NACES.org (an association of private education credit evaluation agencies).
Now some facts: I am a CA from India. I already passed FAR and AUD on an NTS last year and now already have a new NTS issued to me dated 15 December 2009. On this NTS I am scheduled to appear for the remaining 2 papers in Feb and Apr.
The email looks really suspicious. The graphics and presentation are decidedly commercial looking rather than the dull ones of NASBA. IT looks like an attempt at marketing NACES services. I think I was made a victim of email spoofing.
I am goign to call CPAEXAM hot line tomorrow as soon as they open office. Let's see what they have to say to the fact that I already have been issued a valid NTS and could schedule my exams without any problems on prometric website.
Please advise and guide me ASAP. It's urgent... I am appearing for REG on 25 Feb!!
Thanks!

CO no longer accepts CAs from India without an evaluation. Here is the link https://nasbalicensingservices.nasbatools.com/display_page?i d=190
However, the new rule will no affect you, only those who have submitted their application after the rule was put into effect.
You are safe and sound.

Hi Caper! Thanks a ton! I was kinda sure until now that logically the
rule should not affect me, since I have already received my NTS for the
last 2 sections and my eligibility was tested much before this came into
effect. But that email was sort of frightening!
I still can't figure out who sent me such an email, how and why? Is
email spoofing the answer? Any thoughts, friends?
I intend to find out more from NASBA-CO by calling them tomorrow. In the
meanwhile, if any of you or your friends received a similar email
purporting to be from CPA Examination Services, please let me know.
Thanks!

Hi jobsbox1,
So you also received such an email? Do you think it is authentic? BTW, does the email that you received also provide a link to NACES members page and to your application status login with NASBA?
We need to get to the bottom of this. If this is spam, it is really a cruel thing to do. If the email has been sent in error by NASBA itself, we will have an awful of a time getting everything sorted out. Hope it is just spam.
Please reply. Thanks!
