Its a numbers game. If you want a high level manager position making six figures, then your odds are better going through big four.
And if you're dropping thousands of dollars on a college education, you would be well advised to take those odds, assuming that is what you actually want (high level f500 manager position making six figures).
He is just being candid. Because, make no mistake, it is "harder" to accomplish certain things taking one path over another. And if you want an f500 manager position making six figures, you are making it harder on yourself taking the local 300 person CPA firm job over a big four job.
That's not to say you *can't* go from regional firm to international corner suite executive. But if you are set on that goal, why would you make it more difficult on yourself?
