I was making that without a CPA.

Dont DO the CPA for the Money. This is not a Money making career unless you get lucky.

It's often not about the money. It's about getting a job There are enough unemployed accountants.
Secondly, you image as a clever human being definitely improves with the CPA license. :-)
Also, you won't be able to even get some positions unless you are a CPA.

I would say my CPA has definitely helped me to land my perfect job (given the number of candidates). And no, I didn't think about the CPA in terms of money, career or anything but fun and supporting my foreign credentials (cheaper than getting a MS degree). However, the reality turned out to be much better than I expected. CPA has some value in this world.

im only doing CPA cuz my parents want me too... personally i think accounting is a very boring and dry career... it sucks so bad ... however, getting a CPA will get you recognized and would help u get a job ... Also in the long run you can make big $$$

I think you'll make big money if you like your job. There are some jobs you can BS your way through to the top even if you hate it. But accounting? You either love it or you hate it. Please go into a field that you will enjoy and leave the accounting jobs to those who really have a passionate desire to make a living at it. There are plenty of us out there who are unemployed or have been at one point but the BS'ers take the jobs and then whine about it later.

Sorry to disappoint you but accountants rarely make big $$$. :-) This field provides decent living but rarely pays more than $75k-100k annually (with the starting salary around $30k-40k). If you are in this field for money only, you might want to switch to more lucrative career. Also, it's very painful to be in the field that you hate. It leads to all kinds of problems, and depression is the smallest of them.
