lol...you know what I meant.

Actually, you may as well say they do have powers. They have the power to crush your self-esteem if you let them. The Big4 is not the be all end all of your career.

I spent dozens of hours between Beta Alpha Psi and going to EVERY single recruiting event and I did not get anything.  It was very depressing for a while, but then I started asking around and VERY few people had any internship offers.  Most of those that did had Greek god/goddess physiques and some had connections that I couldn't dream of.

There is a ton of money to be made in non big 4 firms.  Maybe the highest you can make as a partner is 400k as opposed to 1mil a year.  Big whoop, man, I would settle for making that much and not working away every waking minute of my 20's with zero job security.  They dont treat their employees well and dont give a hoot.  I wouldnt recommend going to a local firm because the exit opportunities arent very good, but a mindsized regional firm would work.

There is no limit to how much you can make as a partner outside of Big 4.  Depends on how many clients you have.  I had a boss at old regional firm with 4.5 million worth of his own clients, and I can assure you he made more than 400k a year.

Big 4 is no guarantee of success and working at a small firm is not failure. The economy has changed drastically over the last 2 years. I remebered PwC hired 19 people from my school in 2007. This last recruiting season they hired 3 people. The game has changed and people have to consider every alternative to starting a career.
