Hi everyone, I have frequently visited this forum over the past year while studying and taking all four parts of them exam and even re-taking a couple parts so far with no sections passed yet. I recently got back my second non passing BEC score and am re-evaluating my study approach. I feel and believe I will become a CPA it is just sure being challenging.
I am writing to get advice on how others out there get over many of their friends and old classmates or co-works passing and passing and passing and not passing themselves. I would much appreciate any words of wisdom! Thank you and good luck to all of us still working!

JulzCPAhopeful: I have taken all four parts and if I fail FAR (waiting for score now) I will be 0 for 4. I have decided that I am going to cocentrate on one or two sections until I pass them. For example, I am studying BEC now to take in April. If I fail FAR when the score comes out I will re-schedule FAR and take it in late April or May. Then depending on how those scores work out, I will either reschedule BEC and/or FAR for the next window. There is too much info to hop from exam to exam. Focus on one or two until you get a "win" under your belt. I paired FAR and BEC because they are the hardest and easiest...in my opinion.
Also, what materials are you studying? Try Yaeger Cram if you haven't already. Good luck to you! Don't give up!

Hey Score2010, we are on a very similar study plan right now it sounds like, depending on your FAR score. I have decided to focus on financial and BEC until I pass those two then move on to the other two because I believe they are my weakest areas, financial in full and cost accounting in BEC.
I am using CPA Excel because I was able to get a free review program in college. I feel like it is adequate but maybe I am rushing through the material, just trying to get through it all and not focusing on learning concepts... I am strongly considering adding Yeager Cram to my study regimen. What are you using and on average how much study time are you able to get in each week?

I am using the Wiley books and Yaeger Cram for FAR. I've orderd Cram for BEC and I'm waiting for it to get here now. I loved Yaeger Cram and think it is worth the extra cost. I scored a 65 on BEC the first time so I'm hoping Cram pushes me over the passing mark. Good luck to you! I hope I don't have to re-take FAR but we'll see.
I have no life and study all the time. I usually come home from work, grab a bite to eat and then hit the books. I try to get at least 3 hours a day and more on the weekend. I have to admit I wasn't 100% focused with my first exams but I am now!! I am going to pass these little monsters in 2010!!

I studied 4-5 hours per day, 5 days per week. I used Becker and suplemented that with Gleim mcqs. I tried to understand the concepts behind the questions. It took me 6 months of intense studying. Just focus on one section at a time.
Also, I used to use M-Th for new sections and Fri and Sat to review everything so that I would not forget. For gov't accounting, I did all the questions 8-9 times, and I prayed, that is how I passed.
