That's what continuing education is for.  Pass the exam now, get licensed, and keep abreast of current changes through CE.

Since IFRS will not be imposed across-the-board, if I were hiring I'd prefer someone who could operate in both worlds.

I had the same question. Last week we had Bob Harris (Chairman of the AICPA) at our university. He's a Stetson alumn. I asked him this question and he said that there's no reason to wait and sit for the "new" exam because the CPA profession is one of continuous education and you will always have to learn any new topics. He confirmed that you should take the exam whenever you think you are ready and should not wait till new changes will become effective.
