I was enrolled in a Master's of Accountancy program to gain the required
150 hours to sit for the CPA Exam. I figured I could kill two birds with one
stone by getting my Master's AND my CPA. However, I decided to just take
the additional classes at a local community college for 1/4 the costs.
I'm going to get my CPA and then go back for my MBA. IMO, nothing says
"Master of Accounting" like the CPA designation. So, if I'm going to spend
thousands of dollars on a Master's degree I would prefer in would be in
something that complements my CPA. I think having the CPA, MBA
designations as opposed to the MSA, CPA will give more opportunities
within my career.
