I'm new to the forum. I'm usually at analystforum. Right now I'm studying for the CPA exam after completing the CFA LI exam. I have a degree in accounting and finance. The only way I can compare the two is based on the scores I got from practice exams. I scored much higher on CPA practice exams than CFA practice exams.

The CFA requires you to know a little about a lot, the CPA requires you to know a lot about a little. Which in my opinion makes the CPA exam much easier because there is much more focus. The CFA covers 8 or 9 topics with a lot of information on all and there's no telling what will or won't be tested.

A friend of mine who lives in Canada, recently taking courses to be eligible to sit for CGA.

According to her, taking CGA exam is much more difficult than CPA exam.

What do you all think?

Any opinion is welcome.

DISAGREE:
CPA exam does require you to know a little about quite a few things.
CFA i think is structured more around finance. while when you look at the CPA curriculum and (even just the BEC portion), you have economics, finance, mgmt, stats, accounting, law, IT, tax and offcourse accounting.

Personally I think it's like comparing apples and oranges. I've studied for both exams and there are pros and cons to each.

If you have a strong finance background, the first level of the CFA is pretty basic.
