Hello everyone,

I have passed all 4 parts and I have this question. While I ws going through the licensure details, I found tht for Colorado under graduate section it shows '0' for experience .

I know that this topic has been discussed a few times on this forum but I havent found any answer as yet.

I would like to know:

Does it mean if I have a graduate degree I can directly get licensed without the experience requirement?

If any of you has already gone through the licensure process do let me know. I have quite a few questions.

I have completed MBA from India and I would like to know my chances of getting licensed based on this information.

Also I would also like to know if any of you know anything about the education in lieu of experience which I also found on the website.

Appreciate all your inputs and looking forward to hearing more on this topic.

Hi Good girl

Have you taken the ethics exam ?? I am a CA from India  and I was also wondering about this eperience requirement coz I wont be able to work here because of this visa restrictions.

I am planning to take my ethics exam in the last week of october.

Let me know if you come across any information regarding this education in lieu of experience and any course we can do back home to fulfil that

Shilpi

Hi Shilpi,

If you are a CA from India then you can get your education credentials evaluated to see if you can substitute education for experience. I read about this in CO State accountancy site. I think this will work if you have an accounting degree like BCom or Mcom before CA in India.

Unfortunately I am a Bsc in Maths , so even though I am a CA I dont think I will be able to get the license in CO without the one year experience.

Shilpi,

I am reproducing CO rule below. This is the education in lieu of experience rule. Did you try to get Certificate/License going by this rule? It may be worth a try. Having a CPA certificate seems to be of help in getting some jobs as they ask for CPA certification.

The rule is as below - (let me know what you think)

"Foreign candidates applying for certification via education in lieu of experience (See Rule 2.5 in the Board Rules) are required to have their credentials evaluated whether they are members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants or the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. The applicant should inform the evaluator that the review should be conducted for qualification under Colorado Rule 2.5 - Education in Lieu of Experience (see the Board Rules)"

Hello Friends,

I read the Vermont board of accountancy Laws and rules, the licensing requirement does not mention anything about the ethics exam. Only 2 years of work exp in public accounting firm is needed for become licensed in VT.

On the application of CPA exams, it lists 4 licensing requirments, one of those is successful completion of ethics exam.

I am confused, am I missing something ?

Thanks
