THIS! The CPA Exam is designed to push you to the ends of your mental endurance and psych you out. It's part of preparing accountants for the stressful world of their careers. These tests are all about challenging yourself and developing mental peace. I knew people far better than I am at financial accounting, but they failed FAR when I passed it. I don't want to sound mystical (because I'm not that kind of person) but you really must develop harmony in order to succeed.
This is a marathon, not a sprint. It's easy to score well when you're sitting in your comfy home doing MCs for an hour. But you need to be able to score just as well when you're in a Prometric center surrounded by strangers and working for 4+ hours. Learning this lesson in FAR really helped me when I took AUD this week. I didn't let myself "hit the wall" during my 4.5 hours of AUD.
This is a psychological test, not just a knowledge-based test. They are testing you on your ability to master a review of materials, to know the forest as well as the trees and weeds. They are testing you on your stamina and patience. It doesn't matter when we only get two hours of sleep the night before the exam because we are caring for a sick relative. We can still walk into that Prometric center and pass that test.
