Hey,

I got Roger cpa review's course and they seemed to have the best price/reviews out of all the ones looked at. Also a few of my friends have taken them and passed.

Hello Renu, I am a stay-at-home mom with
a part-time job
at home and I have a 1 year-old son as well. I am an
immigrant from the Philippines. I could only start
studying and be able to concentrate after I put my son to
bed at night and that usually would be 11pm. But in
reality I start around 12 midnight because I have to
pick-up toys, check my emails, facebook(only
socialization I have while studying), drink my coffee &
eat some snack. I finish around 4-5am depending on my
energy level. There are times that I will go to bed
around 11 am the next day because I got so caught up in
doing my note cards until 7am and then I would try to
cook breakfast for my husband and spend time with him
before he leaves for work. When the baby naps, that would
be the time that I could sleep also. My sleep hours
averages around 5-6 hours and a 2-hour nap during the
day with the baby.

For REG, FAR & BEC, I used Yaeger Homestudy. Their videos
are in DVD format so you can watch or listen to the
lectures as much as you like. They do not expire so you
can buy 1 section at a time and start studying for REG
even if you have not been approved yet. For AUD, I have
used Yaeger as well but the instructor always put me to
sleep after 30 minutes of listening to him so I spent
another $600 and switch to Roger's online course. The
online videos will expire in 9 months from the date of
purchase. Roger has a different way of teaching that will
motivate you to memorize a lot of terms which will help
on the exam.

And about house chores, it can wait. You will always have
a messy house when you have little kids around. Don't
forget to eat lots of healthy foods and drink supplements
to compensate for your lack of sleep so you do not get
sick. I have gain weight studying and obsessing about
passing the CPA. But I'd rather be a little bit fat than
get sick. I can work out when I pass all of the sections.

Hi ms raquel!

I was really inspired from what I have read. I'm also from
the Philippines, and planning to take CA board. I recently
submitted my application online and waiting for my approval
to sit for the exam. Hope I'll get approve :) At first I was
hesitant to pass my application, I graduated 2004 and I
forgotten all the accounting subjects/theories that I have
learned from school. Luckily my husband found this site and
encouraged me to joined in this forum.

Hope to hear from you soon and share some useful tips on how
to pass the exam. Thanks and God Bless!

Hi landz,

I was just like you before. I was hesitant to apply for exams here in CA. But I was encouraged by my husband. I just moved here in CA last year. Now i got approved to sit and I'm planning to take exams in last quarter of this year. I haven't started reading yet, coz we just received my books that we bought. I have Becker materials now as my start, and then will try something new as my review goes on. I am a cpa from PI, and what bothers me before to take exams here in CA is I've been out of school already for years. Maybe i could recall some theories but not everything. Then my husband always there to tell me to try taking the exam. I should have applied immediately, but anyway we could still make up for the time. I dont wanna waste time, so i do it now. So don't worry you're not alone. I feel the same way, but we can make it as long as we've done our part. Hope we can be friends. Thanks to this forum, there are a lot of good friends here.

Hi Princess,

Good to hear that you're already approved. How many units were credited? I'm hoping
and praying I'll get approve.
Me too I just moved here last december. I'm not a CPA in our country and also been
out of school for years that's why I'm really hesitant to submit my application. My
husband has faith on me that I can do it that's why I decided to continue with the
process. I have to trust myself and always keep in mind "if others can why can't I"
hehe. And if i will fail on my first attempt I will try and try until I pass! I'm
also planning to enroll at Becker but it's really pricey. What parts are you going
to take in the last quarter of this year?

I'm willing to be your friend. Thanks for the reply. You can email me @
