No school only looks at your GMAT. They look at several factors. If your GMAT is way below their median/mean though, it is certainly not going to be in your favor. If you google public accounting report, you will see the top 25 schools or so.

Yes I know that, I have done some research on that and I have also looked at the PAR rankings. For example W&M needs some where near 600 and my score is not near that. Is it worth giving it a shot because W&M is my first choice or is there a way to cover up the GMAT score?

I'd still apply. If you have other things going for you, they might still admit you. It really sounds like you do not understand the admissions process here. It's not some formula they plug into.

Well, you might be right on that because here in India, its purely on merit and the other factors do not play a big role. That's why I am finding it hard to know how important the merit part plays and how far I can cover it up with the other stuffs.

It may be an advantage that you are international. Programs want diversity, though there may be a lot of indian applicants, I don't know. I recommend that you apply to a variety of schools and talk to current students. Don't get too hung up on the GMAT score-in your personal essays, explain how you will bring value to their program. What distinguishes you from the other applicants? That part is very important.

Should I mention about my GMAT in my essays? I thought they expect the applicant to write the other things. Should I mention about the GMAT and GPA ? And how reliable are the PAR rankings? I thought Case western university and wake forest are good ones and I dont find them in the rankings
