Hi All,

I am stuck in a difficult position and any advise would help.
I reside in New Jersey and have sent my credentials for evaluation at FACS for Delaware state board.
I just spoke to them and was informed I am falling short of 11 semester hours (out of 21 total required) in accounting. I was advised to take up an Auditing course, Federal Tax course and another 2 accounting courses.

My main concern is to be able to appear for CPA exams as early as possible. I had already started studying for FAR but now I am not sure when will I be able to finish all the requirement courses.

Advice needed on: Whether I should take these additional courses or instead apply again to get my credentials evaluated for Colorado state.

My background:
I have done my Bachelors in Business Management (Mumbai, India),
Masters in Commerce (Banking & Finance) (Mumbai, India)
and a member of Institute of Company Secretaries of India(ICSI) - cleared Inter and Final.

I have heard that Colorado state recognizes CA's and CS's from India.

So, would it better for me to just take up the additional courses or apply to Colorado state instead? Again, my worry is not losing time as there is a possibility of again falling short of credits for Colorado State and then taking up courses.

What would be the best possible option for me?

Thanks.
Sonal

Dear Ragavi

I have completed my B.Com + CMA (IMA). As per your knowledge, do you think it is equivalent to 150 hours of semester cr.

Thanks a lot in advance

Hi All,

I am so glad that I have joined this forum. Looking forward for your valuable insights for getting CPA lisenced. I am an international applicatant and just got my evaluation done by FACS.

As per the evaluation, I have the following

Degree equal to US baccalaureate.

150 semester credits

24 Accounting credits

Some points to consider in the selection.

1) not a us citizen/resident

2) dont have public accounting experiance (exp for 2+ years as financial analyst in canada)

Please help me choose the best state.

Thanks,

Ragavi

If Delaware and Colorado both require the same # of credit hours, then Colorado is also going to tell you that you're short.  In some states, you can begin sitting for the exams as early as 6 months before you meet the credit requirements; your school just has to certify that you are on track to get those credits.  Perhaps you should call your state board to discuss?

Dear Maera,

I saw your AUD marks and it is very impressive. Congratulation! Can you guide me how you have prepared for AUD. What materials did you use? I will be sitting for AUD in Apr.

Thanks in advance.

Hi VMN,

My CMA did not play a role in my 150 credit hours. I think you may have to take extra courses in Advanced Financial Accounting, US Taxation and US law.
