thanks

Spoke with CA & Tx board .I was told that if i do transfer credit i need to take ethics course (i think 3 semester hours) and have my credentials evaluated still.

If i opt to do the reciprocity,i would only have to take 4 hours CPE ethic course but will need to get license first in CA.(this option will result to being licensed in 2 states). Will this preclude me from doing public practice in TX?ARe there any restrictions???

As per CA

Here is what the TX board told me.I can either

A) Transfer credit-

Will have to submit my credentials for evaluation

Will have to take the ethics course (3 semester hours i think )

b)Apply for reiprocity

will need to get a license to CA first

will need a cpe ethics course only

What do you think is best?

Note also that CA  do not have receiprocity,so if i chose to be licensed in TX right away.

I am thinking of the reciprocity ..Is there any limitations with this route?

BTW, i would love to have a license and practice public accounting in TEXAS.....

retro,

thanks.did you take the exam in another state too before getting licensed to TX?I know i dont have the ethics course that TX require.

and if ,i had my credentials evaluated then later on find out that i had deficiency on educational requirement, will i be able to go to California and apply for a license there instead??or i will be stuck in a situation where al my credits are transferred but cant get licensed under TX until i enroll for ethic course??

I appologize for all the questions..

hi pretty pink,

there is a catch for CA applicants for licensing:

"Applicants must meet the requirements for ¡°active¡± status when they are approved for initial licensure. Therefore, it is required that the applicant have current knowledge of the practice of public accounting. This knowledge is demonstrated for initial licensure by the recent completion of the CPA exam and/or license experience within the past five years."

After passing the exam, u must have applied for licensing within 5 years.

Again, you should consult CA Board of Accountancy if you miss the 5 years deadline.

Hope this helps.
