Hey Tyler!  It's good to see another government person around here - thanks for posting.  I'm always amazed at the variety of work even within the government.

Plus, if you decide to work for the FBI they give you a gun...he he he...guns.....LOL.  Just kidding seriously.  I think it's kinda funny that a CPA needs to have a gun when working for the FBI.  When I was in college and pledging Beta Alpha Psi, a rep came in from the FBI and told us of the job opps there.  He actually said one of the cool things about working for the FBI is that they let you carry a gun....go figure.

Just my .02 cents...not worth much, but I thought it was funny.

Ha!  I just saw a presentation someone at my job did on auditing in Iraq.  There was a picture of the auditor wearing a camouflage military battle dress uniform, holding a machine gun - the caption was "I'm here to pick up those management comments?"

I think IRS agents might also get to carry a gun - if anyone's interested in IRS jobs, the website is http://jobs.irs.gov/

The IRS is the Criminal Investigation Division. http://jobs.irs.gov/car_opp_cisaMn.html

The CPA's with the FBI are Special Agents. You don't just do accounting stuff. Having a CPA is one of the ways to get in. In fact having a CPA is a really good way to get in a 1811 position.

Alot of good information can be found at www.911jobforums.com Look In the federal forum.
