I agree with UCFAccountant. Given the volume of material to be covered, Becker (and other prep courses I'm sure) teach you in a very broad concept kind of way. This is very effective for answering a wide range of MCQ's; however, I found that this level of knowledge didn't seem sufficient to answer the REG sims which required a more detailed application of the concepts. In other words, I personally felt well armed for the MCQ's, but when it came down to the fine detail number crunching sims, little seemed straight forward.
The good news is that a lot of people seem to be feeling the same way. I also have a suspicion that the one sim that really blew me out of the water may be a pre-test question. And yes, I verified that there are pre-test sims in the new CBT-e format; its one of the reasons the AICPA changed to this format to begin with.
