I hear ya Ozz. In all fairness the new REG exam seems to be a lot tougher under the new format. 1st quarter passing rates came in at 3 year lows (down a whopping 16% from 2010). I had a much tougher time with it than FAR.
I have no idea how people some people say they put like 50-60 hours in and pass this exam. Maybe I'm a bit slower than average, but I logged in approximately 230 hours in total prep time for REG. I also had to use every available minute to complete the exam.
Keep this point in mind. If you didn't pass, you ARE NOT back to square one; you are more likely 75% of the way there already. You only need to reinforce the material a bit more, that's it.
Btw, I think I've already forgotten how to calculate basis for S Corps! LOL.
