OZZman,

Definitely more tax basis. For BL, just know the basic concepts.

If you are using Becker 20011, I think it only prepares you about 70% of
the exam. Rest is on your own, especially the Simulation as I mentioned.
I was disappointed with the HW questions because all the questions are
from the past 2008 Wiley questions and released questions. I just wish
Becker make "new questions on their own."

For the BL %, I think 15%-19% seems right as stated on the CSOs.

PS: I'm not saying Becker does not prepare you well, but it will be a good
idea to try new questions from elsewhere.

I have to pretty much agree with you V8nmotion.  I used Becker 2011, but felt they did a pretty good job preparing me for the MCQ's. As far as the sims went however Becker failed utterly in my opinion.  Nothing resembling the 15 or so sims given by Becker showed up on the exam.

Also, I was a little puzzled as to why Becker dedicated half of lecture 4, 5,6, and 7 to business law when the CSO has it comprising only 17-21 percent of the exam.  In contrast, ethics and federal tax procedures together combine to 30% of the exam according to the CSO, yet Becker only included that as ancillary material.  Doesn't make much sense to me.

All of this is in stark contrast to what I experienced with FAR.  Becker was superb in all areas.  Of course the only true measure of success is whether I passed REG or not.  My tone will change if I find out that I passed.  Right now I'm feeling 50/50 which is ridiculous considering the amount of time and effort that went into preparing for this exam.  Oh well…

Best of luck to all of you out there waiting.

BILL G:

I'm feeling 50/50 as well for the Regulation. If you are preparing for the
AUDIT, make sure to review the CSOs and review the Professional
responsibility. Although I believe I had many pre-test questions from this
area.

Good luck studying!!

Thanks for the heads up.  I begin my studies for AUD today.

Thanks V8 and Bill G:

I take the exam a month from now.  I am not a Becker student.  I am studying with Yeager which uses the Wiley materials.  I think I have a good understanding of the tax concepts.  I am falling short on the busness law part.  I finding some of the material difficult to grasp.

Where is the material available for the CSO's and professional responsibility?  Are you refering to Circular 230?  If that is, I printed it but its 60 pages.....not sure what are the areas to read over.

Good Luck to you guys..........I'm sure you did well

All of the ethics and other non-tax return material is stated as being a fairly high % based on AICPA released CSO's.  There is much to memorize and understand in these defined topics but they are all covered in Becker.  If you are experienced in using Becker you should be ok.  I will say Becker has released more updates and even NEW lectures on their website for REG.  Flash cards / reading your book should do the trick, but don't forget to go through all the becker HW MCQ's on these topics at least 2 times to get it down.  Good Luck!

PS:  Save proper time for SIMS if you haven't sat yet in 2011, as they are worth such a high % now.
