Can you provide information on how long have you been preparing for FAR and what is your study plan?

Of course everyone is different with how much background
knowledge they have when studying for this, but I truly
believe that 6 weeks is a good amount of time for FAR
rather than just 4 weeks. Like i said it takes time to
digest the vast volume of material because there is so
much information that u have to be well aware of. 2-3
hours a day is great (especially if u work) but don't
forget that the homework questions are mostly calculation
questions, which takes a lot of time to work out and
solve. And when u get them wrong u need to read the
answer to figure out the right way etc. That on its own
takes forever

I started studying for FAR March 1. I did 1 chapter a week. I would watch the lecture then do the MC questions then I would take notes and move on to the next section and I did this for F1-F9. I call that phase 1 of studying

Phase 2 - go back and review each chapter by doing quizzes and the supplementary multiple choice questions. I'll take notes on what I get wrong. Ill also take a practice exam and do the simulations.

Phase 3 - Ill go over everything I noted that i got wrong and focus more on those specific areas until I get comfertable with them. Ill take another practice exam to see how I improved (hopefully!) compared to the first practice exam.

Phase 4 - the week before ill crank out MC and flashcards and jsut review like crazy.

I gave myself a lot of time to study for FAR, its my last section to pass and I want to pass on the first try and be done with it! I also work full time and only study during the week on my lunch hour and 2-3 hours at night, and probably like 5-6 hours on sat and sunday, more or less depending on what I have going on. I try to have a life until a few weeks before the exam.

I found the Becker chapters took a LONG time especially in the beginning.
I had planned one per week (I work and I have kids) but that wasn't
feasible. The early chapters took a long time, the laters (esp gov't and
NFP) didn't take as long.

I'd do a section, then do the MC for that section, then continue on with
lecture so for F1, you'll do lecture-MC-lecture-MC-etc. Skip the
supplemental questions, many of them are repeats. I bought flashcards and took them with me everywhere, but I only
got through about 1/3rd of them.

I had planned 2-3 weeks for final review but wound up with less than a
week. I took a practice exam and am working through all of the answers
right or wrong, and studying some weak points. Without doing a final
study I got 76's on the MCs for the practice exam, and I did well on the
sims except I flubbed a pension question completely (my weakest area).

My exam is tomorrow and I'm going to finish going through the practice
exam, bone up on pensions, foreign translations, bonds, consolidations,
cap leases and AROs in that order. I took the practice as a real exam -
limited breaks, etc. - and that was very helpful. Also I read a ton online
in terms of structure of the exam and how to plan your time. Based on
my practice, I won't freak if I spend a bit more than 45 m per MC testlet
since a few of the sims were short and I had an hour left at the end.

One last piece of advice - as you do the MCs, really study the answers -
including what was wrong with the others. I found that VERY helpful.

I find my self getting 50-60%'s on my first attempt at the home works. Should I be worried?
