Here's my take...

1. Get a review book - I used Barrons and scored a 540 (about average, I think...I aced the writing/reading part, but didn't brush up on college algebra enough).

2. On the reading comprehension section, READ the question - sometimes they can be tricky.

3. Thoroughly go over college algebra/business calc and derivatives. You'll need to know them.

4. Don't get to worked up over it - it's basically the ACT test for college grads - no big deal.

I used only Barrons and it was more than enough. I hardly studied, honestly. You really need to brush up on your college algebra and practice the reading comprehension sections to get a feel for them. They can be tricky.

I bombed the math and only missed one in the English/reading sections. Go figure.

I thought the GMAT was pretty easy. I had a 750 overall and a 6 on the writing and I didn't really do any studying for it.

The free program available for download helped me a bit. I spent a couple hours familiarizing myself with the test format. Make sure that you spend plenty of time on the early questions. When you get questions right, the test will start increasing the difficulty of later questions. However, if you miss an easy question early, you'll be stuck with a mid-range score. Nailing a few of those super-difficult questions is the way to get a great score.

Also, keep in mind that this test doesn't really focus on business concepts. It's more similar to the SATs.
