You could also try uclaextension.edu who have online undergrad level accounting and tax accounting classes that are similar to the masters in taxation courses.

It's true that JCs are less expensive but they are also so popular that when I tried to register, the classes were all full at Santa Monica Comm College.

I like UCLA Extension but the standards are not very high so you'll have to study on your own outside of the class assignments. I recommend studying the accounting courses simultaneously with the Wiley CPA exam books.

The classes you need to take for the CPA exam is listed on UCLA Ex under "Accounting Certificate." I recommend taking an internship to make sure this is really what you want to do. I used to work 80 hours per week during the initial tax season and 60 hours per week for most of the remainder of the year. We revert to 30-40 hours per week in November and December. I love the long hours but most people might not. Good luck.

You should be able to do a little research to find the
classes that you're looking for. Go to your state board of
accountancy and look at the course requirements. If you
still have doubt, call them before you spend your money on
these classes.

Jakemia,

I have to agree with JR2012 CPA.

You will need to check the requirement of your local state board of accountancy as each state is different and the requirements are changing.

Also check out their curriculum courses if any of them are of interests to you.
