You are going to regret becoming a CPA. It's not worth it.

I am not a CPA yet but I do have the experience requirement fulfilled due to working full time at a small CPA firm while I was getting my masters. I'm actually a first year staff at a top 9 mid-sized firm. I've interviewed with the Big 4 (didn't receive offer) and another large regional, so I do know a thing or 2 about how they recruit.
As for the exam, I've passed one part, have taken another already and am studying for another part.

Study for the exams and get the best job you can. Everything will fall into place eventually.

As many have said here before:
No career field is fantastic right now. Accounting has been, is, and will forever be a worthwhile field to pursue!
Don't worry so much about your age, if it matters at all, (and I highly doubt it would) only if you do not have work experience.
Keep at it!

I am 24 years old with minimal accounting experience, I did a couple of seasonal tax seasons with a CPA in Long Island & I had a short stent doing A/P A/R with a private company. Its been 2 years since i've been out of college. My goal is to hopefully land a position with the Big 4 or a medium sized firm. If I pass 4 parts of the exam and im 25 years old, what are my chances of getting a good job? |

From what it seems, passing your CPA does very little for your career progression unless you've already established a foundation, i.e. had a few years from public and/or private experience. In general, it's hard to be "competitive" with sole your exam passed because you're competing with so many people with public accounting experience and their CPAs already.
As far as Big 4 or mid-tier firms, Big 4 is out of the question in the short term. At the entry level, they only hire from undergrads or MAccs. I'm not too sure about mid tiers, but I'm fairly certain BDO, GT, and McGladry follow similarly stringent hiring practices. If you venture out a little more to more of the regional firms, you may be able to get your foot into the door. Do a year or two and lateral to a BDO/GO/McGlardy or potentially even Big 4 if you network well. With that said, a respectable MAcc program and a decent personality will get you into Big 4 pretty easily.
