Speaking as someone who is an Accounting major as their FOURTH career choice, there are worse avenues to walk down.

If you really think that Accounting is that bad, think of how other majors feel. Many of them do not even lead to a career!

Accounting may not live up to the hype, but the field has a lot more going for itself now then most other majors.

Unless you are good with chemistry or biology and will do well in healthcare or pharmaceuticals, stick with Accounting!

Very true. I almost went to Pharmacy school but didn't get accepted into the
one I wanted so now I'm an accounting major. But they usually level off at
125k for the rest of their lives and big 4 supposedly opens many doors. I'll
wait and see about the latter...

Pharmacists certainly do better on average. Accountants at the top end
will make more.

There are no guarantees in life.

I know an electrical engineering major who currently delivers pizza for a living, after a series of internships and temp jobs which didn't pan out into full time jobs.
