Thanks, Mark7.

I agree with you guys so I am doing research about the materials i am going to use for next try on REG. I am still comparing Yaeger & Roger. To me they have some things in common, which is using wiley as practice. So the quality of the lectures (Philli vs. Roger) will become the "match point". It seems Yaeger is very famous for REG. Amy, how do you feel about Roger's lecture?

By the way, do I need the Gleim test prep. as supplementary practices? I have also seen lots of recommandation on it.

The dirty little secret about CPA exam materials is that it matters little which material you use, it matters more what you do with them! Make sure your material is 2011 ready and nothing earlier, then either learn it yourself or find another way.

Not really. Yaeger and Wiley don't cover a darn thing on Circular 230 which is heavily tested! I heard the Gleim software has a lot of good practice questions on that topic whereas the Wiley software doesn't have any questions at all on it.

I'm definitely getting the Gleim software if I have to retake. I'm thinking of getting the Gleim book as well, but I'm not 100% sure if that may work. I'll have to think about it.

Guys please help me...I took REG three times..73,74(2010) and just got 68(2011). :( I studied with Wiley.

1. ethics - weak

2. law - compatitive

3. fed tax procedure - weak

4. property tax - strong

5. individual tax - strong

6. entity tax - strong

MCQ - strong

simulation - weak

this is what i got in the exam report. Can anybody give me some advice how i should approach the exam next time?? They changed content of the exam so much compared to 2010 and I thought circular part is very little but it was a lot. :( Also, fed tax procedure parts were not really taught in wiley.

Plus, don't know how to prepare sim. just get really nervous whenever i see sim in exam because I am not used sim.

any advice will be helpful! thank you.

@bluedream

I also failed Reg this window receiving a 69. My score report was pretty similar to yours. I was stronger on four sections, comparitive on one and weaker on one section. I think the big kicker like you is the simulations. Now that they account for 40% of your grade it is impossible to blow them and still pass like it was in the past. I understand why people say that you can blow them and still pass but just do not agree now. My questions is what can we do to better prepare for the sims? I used the sims in the back of wiley and also had the becker final review book which had a few sims for review but none of them were similar at all to what i have seen on the exam. I was thinking of buying the gleim simulation wizard but wasnt sure if it would just be more of the same. Good luck with your studying.

futrcpa,

so the way for us to prepare is study well for cicular 230 and SIM, right? maybe I should purchase gleim simulation wizard then??? :(

how are you studying now? i am planning to take it end of october. I was going to take FARE but then I think I better study REG when it is still a bit fresh...

Let me know how your study plan is like. this is miserable.
