It definitely doesn't matter. I remember even a regional firm in the Boston area (one I never heard of before) asked for it on their application. I had a 1470 on the old scale and didn't even get a first round. The only time I heard it being used was for top consulting firms. I remember McKinsey/Bain/BCG actually wanted it on the resume. What I don't get is why some companies would recruit at certain schools, where they know they will find the people they are looking for, yet ask for such things concerning high school matters. It's not even a great screening tool compared to so many other factors.
Anyway, if it's not a required field and you think it's that bad, feel free to leave it off. High school is a thing of the past, and companies understand that. A lot of them even disregard your freshman year. If it was that important, they would be recruiting exclusively from the ivy league, and obviously that's not the case. If you MUST put it, I wouldn't lie, however, even though I'm not sure if they would even check. In any case, I wouldn't worry. Good luck!
