I am having a hard time studying (self Study) with Wiley CPA. I
I read the chapter, then I do the MCQ, then and then I forget everything I
learned.. reading/note taking takes forever.. Can somoene offer me some
better studying tips?

I have a Wiley 2011 BEC book, but since it is taking me forever, I pushed my
exam to the end of January 2012... should I get a new book? these books are
expensive

I just got my FAR score and passed with an 81.  I used the Wiley book and the Wiley online test bank.  Here's my plan:

Read the chapter.  Do the MCQs in the test bank.  Retake the ones you got wrong until you get them all right.  Do the sims in the book and online (some of the online ones are just awkward so I skipped them, I also didn't do the research ones in the book because that's awkward).  Take notes while you are doing MCQ's and make study sheets to help memorize.  Move on to the next module and repeat.

When you finish all the modules, go over your notes for each one, and take MCQs for each module until you are getting 85%.  At the end, start taking 30 question MCQs for all modules, each new test opting for only questions not seen before.  Do this over and over until you are getting 85%.  Make sure you read why you got an answer wrong and understand it.

You'll have to get a new book for FAR.  There have been changes from 2011 to 2012... Last year I was doing a self-study with Wiley books. The information they provide is great.  You'll have to study really hard.  I didn't pass ANY exam with self-study in AUD, REG, and BEC..... I already scheduled my last exam for FAR in February 2012.  I decided that I couldn't keep going like this and maybe I'm not studying "right".  So I enrolled with Becker to review all 4 sections... It cost me 3290.00. That was a huge investment for me and my family.... My first class was last Saturday - today it's closed b/c of power outages in our WA areas...

Anyway, I've found it extremely helpful to keep me on track. Their software is awesome as it keeps track of your progress and even has a study schedule.... So far, I've been studying just as much as I was with self-study (a whole lot) but I feel a little better not going into it "alone".... We'll see if this makes a difference in my studies and retaining all the information - LOTS of information....

If you purchased your book through Amazon, you can send it back if you didn't write all over it and they'll give you a store credit....

I did that with my last year's books... They gave me about 20 bucks for each book.... Not much but at least it was something....

I have a hard time with motivation as I progress.... Nothing sucks more than when you're studying your butt off and to take the test and fail... I must say I was pretty heart broken and I almost wanted to give up.....  But when you've come so far in life and education... It's too early to give up... Keep studying!! and Doing the MQ's constantly - DEFINTELY spend time with the simulations......

So, you switched from wiley to becker. Doing the classes. That is what I am doing - Becker. But the classes are too fast, 2 a week. I quite them to do the online lectures. Also, WA.  And to keep the promise you have to get all the questions done 30 days after the last class. I rushed through all the Aud MC?'s to fax in the certificate that I completed them, but found it did me zero good. I could not remember 1/2 of it. So now I am starting over. Find that I need to take it very slow, make notes of almost every question to learn it. At this rate I don't know If I will ever get through the 1300 MC. Now, my friend did Wiley and has passed 2 exams. Says she only has 900 audit MC.!  She thinks Wiley books are more readable, less confusing than Becker. I wonder if that would make the prep more doable, plus less MC to learn. She passed Audit, has taken Reg. I can't feel good enough to take one exam yet.

Yes, they are definitely fast paced but like all study material you have to
buckle down and load your head full of information. I find Becker's
material more broken down for me. I felt like the Wiley books was as if I
was reading a dictionary! But, it's all personal preference. Take a look
at your friend's book and compare the two.
